Research, retreats and innovation – spaces for science in Speinshart
Spaces for progress
Where history meets the future of AI and SuperTech
A place for visionaries – welcome to Speinshart
True innovation requires more than just a laboratory. It needs places where your thoughts can flow freely, where research meets reflection, and where ideas can develop in peace. Speinshart is exactly such a place.
For centuries, monasteries have served as sanctuaries of knowledge – from the Library of Alexandria, which attracted the greatest minds of antiquity, to medieval scriptoriums where monks laid the foundation for Europe’s scientific thought. Today, the Speinshart Scientific Center for AI and SuperTech continues this tradition – in an atmosphere that blends tranquility with inspiration, and cutting-edge research with centuries-old architecture.
Here, in the seclusion of the Baroque monastery complex, scientists, visionaries, and innovators come together. Here you can research, discuss, and shape the future – far from the distractions of everyday life, but in an environment that stimulates the mind and provides space for dialogue.
Where science thrives
Meeting & collaboration spaces
The spaces in Speinshart are more than just conference rooms. They are laboratories of thought. This is where new theories emerge, groundbreaking research is conducted, and interdisciplinary synergies are formed.
Dientzenhofer Saal
A legacy of excellence
Where Baroque master builders once shaped the future of architecture, you and your colleagues now shape the future of technology. With its high ceilings and historical backdrop, the “Dientzenhofer Saal“ is the ideal venue for keynotes, intensive workshops, and strategic research discussions.
In the 18th century it hosted aristicratic guests and clerics. Today, its original vaulted ceiling still reflects the craftsmanship of Wolfgang Dientzenhofer, a renowned Baroque master builder from northern Bavaria.
Tafelzimmer
Where many ideas sit at one table
Science thrives on personal conversation – on moments when ideas take shape and become more precise. The “Tafelzimmer“ is the ideal place for focused meetings, think-tank sessions, or informal discussions during intervals between events.
Its name, meaning “dining room,” comes from the tradition of communal dining at a long table. Once a place where guests enjoyed delicacies from the monastery gardens, it now serves as a modern meeting space while preserving its historic charm.
Musiksaal
The sound of innovation
The “Musiksaal” is ideal for presentations, interactive panels, and interdisciplinary symposia, offering an inspiring setting for intellectual dialogue.
Originally created between 1760 and 1763 under Abbot Dominikus I. von Lieblein, the hall served as a ceremonial reception area and was richly decorated in the Rococo style. Its artistic highlights include painted canvas wall panels, a monumental ceiling fresco by Johann Michael Wild based on Psalm 39, and delicate stucco work by Ulrich Lambeck depicting the four classical elements. Once a grand venue for musical performances, the “Musiksaal” still conveys the splendor and creativity of the 18th century, making it a striking space for modern discourse.

Designed for focus & inspiration
“I had the pleasure to visit Speinshart on several occasions now; it’s always been a pleasure. You’re extremely well taken care of, the historical buildings are inspiring, and the surrounding nature gives you space to breathe and get creative. Hope to be back soon!”

Klostergarten – more space for thinkers
Science requires not only computing power but also creative breaks.
Kloster-Gasthof
Where science meets tavern culture
During the day, the hosts of the Kloster Gasthof (monastery inn) serve you fresh, seasonal cuisine – in the evening, it becomes a place to unwind, converse, and enjoy a meal together.
Bavarian roots, modern accents – the menu effortlessly combines both. Crispy roast pork with dark beer jus, tender fish from the nearby ponds, herb “Spätzle” noodles with mountain cheese, or vegetarian delicacies made with regional vegetables. Accompanied by the original Speinshart Klosterbier, authentic Franconian wines, or a high-proof monastery brandy to round off the evening.
Here you don’t sit isolated in a hotel lobby – but right in the heart of a genuine, lively tavern. Locals drop by after work for a beer, card games are played at the regulars’ table, and families celebrate special occasions. Authentic Bavarian tavern culture, as it can only be experienced here.
